Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekends fun began on Friday night when Frank and I headed to Sacramento last minute to go to see A Perfect Circle. Holy amazing. I think it was just the going away trip that we needed and seeing Maynard perform was really cool. I'm sure I'm not supposed to say this, but he moves and does his own sort of dance to the music and it's so cute. (I know, I know..."cute".....but that's how I see it!)

Saturday we slept late, and then played games like major nerds. We also watched an episode of The Kennedy's which we recently began and are completely into. I love the editing and the flashbacks to  illustrate the back story. Before we knew it was time to get all gussied up and head to a 'billy party. The Mister chose Psychobilly and I chose Rockabilly since I've always admired the style. Took me a bit to get my hair just right but I was really happy with how it turned out since I fail in all things hair and make-up. It was fun to see everyone all dressed up.

Sunday was a super lazy day with more Kennedy's and sushi out together. We also went out for ice cream and I was a bit sad to see my favorite flavor, America's Birthday Cake, was already out of stock. Until next year my delicious friend.

This weekend is about getting my sleep schedule back in check and planning out the big things for the rest of the year.

Weekend Wrap-Up

What a weekend! This weekend was about birthdays including mine and fun fun fun. Thursday night we lined up early with some friends for Harry Potter and were lucky enough to get into the theater around 9:30 instead of 11:30. My feet were very thankful for this. We made the choice to pay a bit extra and see it in 3D and it was definitely a great decision since we got some great 3D glasses!

I took Friday off from work so I wasn't falling asleep at my desk and also as a little treat to myself for my birthday. Best idea!! Friday was full of rest during the day and then we spent the evening celebrating Frank's brothers birthday which was such a great time with family.

Saturday I was spoiled big time.  I was treated to breakfast in bed and activities of my choice for the rest of the day. Of course I chose to play a game and some relaxing. I also got to open one of my presents early and it was a beautiful necklace that was on my Pinterest wishlist. After getting ready for the day the Mister and I went to Downtown Clovis for some antiquing. I love our downtown area. There are tons of antique stores and sweet little boutiques.

We don't usually have dessert before dinner but we had to stop by one of our favorite sweet spots and get a napoleon. Unfortunately we got there later in their day and they were out but the figure eight goodness we got was worth the trip over and we got to have some quiet time to soak each other in before heading to dinner with family. (Which I don't seem to have pictures of. "/ )

One of the best parts of the internet and your favorite stores being online is the birthday freebies and discounts.

After dinner I got to walk through the happiest place in the Fresno area, Anthropology. (Seriously, the place is magical.) And then we went home and watched the first part of the Lincoln Lawyer before crashing out.


Sunday we helped Franks brother and future sister-in-law move and finished the Lincoln Lawyer which was pretty good. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday and a better weekend. 25 is going to be a great year!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I had plans this weekend...two date nights, a farmers market trip and a birthday party for a close friends daughter. We didn't do those things. Poor Mister had a fever on Friday and taking care of him and making sure he got rest was priority one. It turned out to be nice though since I haven't fully recovered from being sick myself, I got lots of extra rest. I've also been stuck with only eating mashed potatoes, oatmeal and Jamba Juice since Friday due to my orthodontist appointment on Thursday. Basically, I can't chew and I'm complaining.

So that's my weekend. I'm sure I've had you right on the edge of your seat with this one. I would however like to share a few pictures I took. I adore flowers and love to take pictures of them to enjoy at later dates. It's the simple things I guess.

Weekend Wrap-Up

For some strange reason I thought this weekend wasn't going to be as busy as the one we have coming up. Yes, I was very very wrong. Friday morning my Mister had his first graduation ceremony. He is now officially is done with college (unless he decides to pursue a masters or teaching credentials) and has his degree in Mass Communications and Journalism. I could not be more proud of him. I had the pleasure of meeting the professors and advisers that he learned from during his time earning this degree and they all had such wonderful things to say about him. In the evening we went out to dinner with his parents and brother Danny and his future family after his graduation. Frank and his brother both graduated (for different majors) and though I didn't get to go to Danny's ceremony I was so happy to get to celebrate his graduation over pizza!

Saturday morning the Mister and I rested a bit and then prepared for the afternoon/evening. The whole family (my mama included) went for a yummy early dinner at my favorite Mexican place, Casa Corona. Best veggie tacos ever! We then all headed over to the second graduation for both Frank and Danny which was the Latino Commencement. There were so so so many people, it's actually the largest Latino graduation ceremony in the US. We were treated to mariachi and folklorico dancers alternating performances before the graduates came out and I was super excited because those are no joke my favorites. Sunday was the graduation party for both of the graduates and it was full of family and food.

This weekend was definitely a tiring one but everything was well worth it since I got to see Franks dreams come to fruition. I hope to share a few pictures later on since I didn't take any with my phone for once.

Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend was full of fun and rest which is exactly how I like my weekends. Friday night was The Directors Cut for my Mister. I had lots of fun dressing up and going to the event. There were lots of great entries and the premier (basically) of a short film his colleagues were working on, which was amazing! To see the event come together after all of my Misters hard work was such a privilege. After the event we headed to the after party at The Landmark in Downtown Fresno and we shared a basket of fries and mingled with all who came to celebrate. I must say it was my first time meeting most of the people there and first time spending time with those I had already met and honestly, they are great people! I made a new friend which Frank says I stole....it doesn't help that I have stolen two friends of his prior one of which is one of my favorite gals (Hi Ro!). Any who, it was a great night and we returned home two tired beings but very happy ones.

Saturday and Sunday were spent lounging about and enjoying our time together with the exception of a few hours both days when the Mister had appointments to attend to, one for a wedding he was helping a friend shoot and the other a group meeting for a final project. I spent my time productively by hanging with my fur baby Sophie and watching Gilmore Girls. Sunday night we watched Grown Ups which was sort of funny and kinda cute overall.

This week will be out preparing for our next big events. Coming up is my Misters big graduation and I think I'm more excited than he is at this point, which is understandable considering the finals he still has to take. We also have my mama's birthday and a wedding in the coming weeks which are going to be lots of fun.

Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend was too good for words. The month of May has been/will be pretty crazy for me as I have so many things to attend/take care of. This weekend was no exception.

Friday the Mister and I had the pleasure of watching his nephew Kael who is such a sweetie! When I got there around 8, he had fallen asleep so we had dinner and started playing some Little Big Planet. When Kael woke up he joined us on the floor and laughed as we entertained him with the game. It was getting late so we went to the room to wind down and let Kael play with the various things in Franks room. He adores the piano and will turn it on and play it as soon as he walks into the room. He is just so smart and is always trying to figure things out on his own.

Saturday we attended a graduation for a close cousin of Franks, Erica. It was such a lovely day out and I was glad to be able to congratulate her on her big day! We went over to her party right after and I had a falaffle for the first time. I can't say it's my favorite but it was good and I may need to try one again. I also got to spend a bit of time with Frank's cousin Vero (the older sister of the graduate) who has been attending college in New York. Vero is such a sweet and smart gal and I just love her passion for life.

After the party is was time to get down to business for Frank which meant working on a drawing assignment. We headed to one of our favorite spots, the Japanese Gardens in Woodward Park. We took a stroll around and Frank decided which spot he wanted to feature and then we sat down and he got to work drawing while I read aloud out of the Harry Potter book we've been working on together. While we sat there at least four wedding parties and a dozen prom couples came to get their pictures taken in the beautiful gardens. It was a lot of fun to see where they decided to have the pictures taken and what everyone was wearing. The trend for the day was tea length dresses for the prom girls, a handful of white tuxes/suits for the prom guys and grooms, and a lot of deep reds and burgundy for bridesmaid dresses. Also while we sat there we saw a sweet rabbit, peacocks (that live in the gardens) and a squirrel that decided he didn't like where we were sitting and threated us. This was funny and sad all at the same time because while he ran towards us I thought I was having a Snow White moment with a woodland creature coming to greet me and really he just darted around us and then shook his tail rather angrily. Maybe next time? This was followed by dinner at our favorite spot as of late and spending time together.

Sunday, Mothers day was spent with both of our families and was really nice. We had brunch out with Franks family and then made dinner for my mom and watched the newest Narnia movie. It was a great day and I wish I had gotten pictures of everyone.

Weekend Wrap-Up

This is two weeks worth of wrap-up since somehow, my post for last week never went up. Lots and lots to say but not too much to share picture wise.

April 18th: My weekend was great and since feeling much better after my Thursday, I actually wanted to get out and do something. Saturday was spent on the go. The Mister and I were up early and had some Starbucks and breakfast. Then we got ready and headed to downtown Clovis where we were extras in a short film project. The shoot ran a bit long but was pretty fun and after we decided to take a little rest at the house and then head out for the rest of our day. Saturday was Record Store day and my favorite band, Deftones, had released a limited edition vinyl just for the occasion. Unfortunately Fresno wasn't a participating store. (You hear that Fresno? You weren't included in a major event for one of the biggest bands in the world, and they have family that live here and love to come here when they tour! Get with the program!)

Though we both had our hearts set on some veggie rolls at our favorite Japanese place, they hadn't yet re-opened since their remodel so we were forced to order ordered a pizza instead. Luckily the place by my house is always good and pretty fast if you're ordering for pick-up so it worked out quite well and left time for some shopping I wanted to get done after. I finally visited the Forever 21 that just moved to a bigger space and I must say, it was pretty overwhelming. Three floors of Forever 21. Yes, you read that correctly. I believe it is now the biggest store in their chain and in my opinion the best. Despite being very large it was very organized and everything was merchandised (set-up & displayed for those that haven't worked retail) really well. I was also really shocked that there were only a few repeats in different areas. Because the old location was so cramped and cluttered I rarely shopped in-store and opted to shop online. I never realised how much Forever 21 has to offer. And even though I hardly ever find anything I like anywhere, I walked out with three new items. After a stop for some fro yo it was back home.

Sunday was spent relaxing and we watched Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 for the second time. My goodness how I love the Harry Potter series and though I'm anxious to see the second part, I will be sad to see it end. Part of me wants the get the final book read before the release but since I began my Harry Potter love with the movies, I don't want to spoil it for myself. (Does the even make sense?) The Mister and I are on book three so we'll see how it goes.

This week has a great outlook but I'll wait to share more of it when the time comes.




April 25th: I have been in serious need for some vacation time away from it all for some time now. I've just had too much going on and too many things to worry about. The Mister and I had originally planned to take some time off to go camping somewhere low in cost, high on beautiful scenery and FAR away from the internet and real world. This translated into camping. Unfortunately fate had some others plans and between snowed in areas of the mountains and booked up places by the beach we were left to either plan another type of trip or to book the camping site by another beach that included an extra 3.5 hour drive to the normal 3 hours due to storm damage and road/highway closure. Not acceptable for a second choice beach camping spot. Luckily, Franks sister and brother-in-law were taking a trip to Vegas on the exact same days and invited us to join and we happily accepted. We sent about 3 days and had such a great time. On the drive home we stopped in Calico, California which is a ghost town. Today it's full of themed shops but it's still pretty eerie. You'll have to forgive the iPhone pictures, it's all we had camera wise.

Also this last week my dog Lucy had hip surgery due to a bad joint in her left hip. Poor thing will have to be on bed rest (only walking for potty brakes) for at least two weeks and have to wear her e-collar until the third week in May when her stitches come out. There has been a lot of yelping and whining but it's gotten a lot better. It really hurts me to see her unhappy and in pain but I know we made the best decision for her since she was in pain on a daily basis before the surgery. Only time will tell how well the surgery will work for her but we are hoping for a great recovery and for the time to fly by to get to the part where she is allowed to rehab the leg. The doctor suggested that we gain access to a pool that she can swim around in since that is the best way to get everything strong and working again. Lucy's favorite thing to do is take a swim in our pool so that works out perfectly.

Now that my internet break it's over I am ready to blog more and post some long overdue pictures. I also have some recent purchases to share. This week is about sucking it up and getting back to reality (my desk at work was a rude awakening) which means cleaning and other blah-type things.

Pretty Picture & Weekend Wrap-Up

Hello and happy Monday to you! The weather we're having is super wacky the last couple weeks. I would really enjoy having a week or two of mid 70's just to call things even. Here's a snapshot of what this week will look like.



This weekend was lots of game playing and nursing a pup with a bee sting. My Mister's dog Zero, whom I love to pieces was attacked by a bee we're guessing when he was getting water from his dish. Zero won the battle though because we found the bee dead next to the dish and boy was he big, the largest honey-type bee I've seen. Luckily Zero only had some swelling around the site which was on his poor doggy snout but you could definitely tell it hurt which just broke my heart.

This week I'm looking forward to starting a decor project for my bedroom. Sadly all of my walls are bare and it just sort of feels like someone elses resting spot. I have put off hanging things for far too long. Perhaps if things go well I can share a bit of it here. I'm also looking forward to more blog posts. Last week I was feeling sorry for myself for a few different reasons and was sort of in a funk so posting fell by the wayside. I aim to make this week much different.

My weekend was a bit rough as my body was not cooperating with me in the least. Saturday it was difficult to keep myself awake and when I was awake, I couldn't breathe. Lovely. But I am alive and well and overall it was a relaxing weekend.

Pretty Picture & Weekend Wrap - Up

This week's pretty picture was taken by me. This is a beautiful tree that can be seen just over our back fence. I loved the colors, the bees flying in and out of the flowers and the great contrast against the sky.


This weekend was great! Friday night we attended a local show. We stayed for all four bands but left after a few songs from the last (and hosting) band Fierce Creatures. It was late since we'd be getting up at 7 the next morning and it was such a long wait to finally see them. The band just before though, The Silent Comedy, rocked! Very different and such a great feel. In my opinion they were the best of the night.

Saturday we went on a hike in the McKensie Preserve up to a table top. Our journey began around 10 and ended around 2:30. The majority of the time was spent on the actual hike with only an hour spent on the table top itself. This is the biggest physical accomplishment I've had since my high school sports days and I really couldn't be more proud of myself. The view was worth it! I have tons of photos from the entire hike but the charger for my laptop has died so I am unable to upload those. Luckily I had taken a couple with my phone, so here they are...please excuse the darkness in the last photo, I was far too tired for my face to be clearly visible.



Sunday was spent in recovery mode. We played some games, took a great nap and watched a movie. I also caught up on some much needed cleaning and laundry. I'm definitely still feeling the burn for Saturday's hike but my Monday has started my week off right .

New Things & Weekend Wrap-Up

I recently made a few purchase of things I REALLY needed wanted. Per my post Six Confessions, I actually needed a purse. My wallet was also showing it's age so I made a preemptive move and replaced it since I found a great one on sale. The other two purchases I'm featuring were also things I needed. I've been loving ruffles lately and the pint on that dress is too cute. The dress should be here today and I hope it fits perfectly because I have big plans for it.




I'm realizing now that with all the colors I'm bringing into my wardrobe, I'm going to need another color purse than just black. This idea makes me cringe since finding the purse I now have took three months.

My weekend went well. Lot's of time with my mister. Time was spent with both families, food was eaten, many gaming hours were logged...it was great. My mom and I also made a yummy cake for my bosses birthday week. I completely forgot to take a picture of it though. =/ I must also mention that we didn't see any snow here which made me very disappointed. I hoped and hoped it would snow but of course it's the valley, so it didn't. Maybe next year.

2010: Goodbye

I'm so glad 2010 is over. I can say that I learned a lot about myself and I change a lot in very positive ways. So here's the breakdown:

1. I learned just how stong I really am. You know I have this anxiety I get and I can really feel defeated by situations and life in general, but I never gave up. I had to move, adjust to my new/old life and make new plans for my future. There's a lot in my life that I've had to overcome or just plain make it through alive and maybe since I had gotten through a lot of that pain and dealt with it, going through this last year seemed like the worst of all of it. In reality, it wasn't. I cried way too much and shut myself out from everyone several times but I didn't just give up on my life. I finally just decided that I had to be over it all and move on. Of course as soon as I made that decision my life turned all around again except this time for the better.

2. Focusing on the present isn't easy, but you're a lot happier than just trying to get through now to get to tomorrow. This was a huge downfall for me in the past. It prevented me from seeing the little important things in my life. Now that I focus on what's going on today and in this moment I feel so much better about what I'm doing and where I'm headed. It's no longer a race to get somewhere else and a dissapointment that I'm not there yet.

3. My goals and "wants" are just as important as other people's. I have a tendency to put others before myself. I really learned that it can lead to resenting that person even though it was my choice to put what I wanted on the back burner. Also, by having my own goals I can keep focused on what is important to me while still helping out others.

4. Not all doctors will make you feel like a nut job. Funny that I see a specialist after repeated "it's stress" responses from my doctor, the results are given to my doctor and I'm told that the findings were unrelated to my pain. "It's stress and if you can't manage it on your own to make it go away, we will put you on stress relieving medication." I switch doctors for this and several other reasons and after a bad bout with the pain I get up the nerve to brave asking the new doctor about it. I explain my history and he reviews the results from the specialist. The pain was related to the results in fact that's the whole cause! (Sorry for being vague on what it actually was.) I just really couldn't believe it, I mean I went to the other doctor 4 times and to 1 specialist for the problem and I am treated like I'm crazy yet the new doctor tells me right away what it could be after I describe the symptoms and confirms it from the previous tests' results! You can't let people just brush you off, especially when it comes to your health. If you think it's more that just stress or whatever their conclusion in, get a second opinion. The second opinion could be exactly like the first but you'll save so much stress and worry (and money) by doing so.

So many more lessons were learned and so many other things that I could share but these were the core things of 2010. Here's hoping 2011 is better and full of pocitivity.

My Weekend

Usually on the weekend I don't wake up until 8:30 or 9 and the just laze about for another hour or so before starting to clean or prepare for my day. This weekend, wasn't like that....

My weekend consisted of 2 trips to Home Depot, an oil change by a company I will never again use the services of, an amazing veggie burger from Irene's, Soul Kitchen at the Tower theater, dinner & The Italian job, and building this beautiful bird feed tower.







I think we picked the perfect flowers. Now to get the birds to come. Sophie has been watching since Monday, and no birds have come.
