Cool New Thing: Jux

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

So while I've taken a bit of an unintentional vow of silence (other than my weekly E & I update) on this little space, I have been posting quite a bit on a new blogging site called Jux. (You can check mine out here.) If you haven't heard of it yet, Jux is a simplistic blogging site for all things, big or small. If I had to liken it to anything I would say it was the theory of Tumblr and the simplicity of Path all in one. Except it's WAY better my friends. Social links are easily added to your main hub to get people contacted to you in other ways, adding photos as a post or to a post are a snap by simply adding from your Instagram, Facebook, or Flickr feeds. Or you can go the old school route and upload them from you computer. No time to get to your computer? Add a photo post to your Jux feed from Instagram by adding #jux to your caption.

There's nothing I love more than a company that constantly tries to update their site or add new features in a positive way. (Facebook's every changing feed & personal pages....gag me!) Jux is adding new features and working from feedback from their own users! Jux is also currently working on an app (which I'm waiting very impatiently patiently for). Overall it's just a great place to share the large or small details of each day.

So what are you waiting for? Get a Jux here and make it your own!

Baby anything is probably the bee's knees in my eyes, but these baby goats take the cake lately.  You  should definitely stop by Juniper Moon Farm and check out the goings-on. Bonus? Lamb Cam!

This post for Danielle of Sometime Sweet is amazing.

You do not want to miss Croissantosaurus Rex.

I recently discovered Design Seeds and now I look forward to new color pallets for lovely pictures.

I know it's 100 degrees here today, but I need these in my life! I've got to get my knitting skills up and give this pattern a go!

Via

I have been seriously quiet around here and on the web lately. I've been taking it easy and taking things slow. So here's my list of things I currently love, offline.

  • Man Men! Since the beginning this show has brought me in more and more. The clothes, the stories....it's all just so wonderful. We are in the first few episodes of season two and if it were up to me we'd just watch one after another.

  • On the subject of shows, Top Shot! I originally began with laughing at Frank for watching this. "Such a man show..." I said. Well the jokes on me because I am hooked like no other. Give me challenges that will test some of the best marksmen and slow-mo explosions and I'm a happy girl.

  • Trying new coffee. We switched coffee services at work and seeing the price of the coffee we were using made me think that we should try something new. (And because I may not be the biggest fan of Yuban.) Luckily our new service gave us samples of each coffee they offer and we have tried a Kona blend and hazelnut, both of which were divine.

  • Snuggles with my mister. Yes, I went there. Call me mushy. Call me lame. But boy, do I love him and our time together.

  • My new Christie Dupree EP CD. I was so excited to see her with Eisley last week and chat with her a bit after she performed. She has such great talent and now I have two CD's to enjoy on my car rides.

  • Nail painting. It's funny what a little polish on your nails or a few self made designs will do for your mood. I'm enjoying trying out new things instead of just a plain coat of clear polish.

This weekend is of our annual festival, Clovis Fest which has hot air balloons launching in the morning and food, booths and music the rest of the day. I used to go with my grandma every year when I was younger and it was so much fun to watch the crews air them up and see them lift off. I have a busy weekend ahead of me but I'm crossing my little fingers that I'll be able to go out and at least see the hot air balloons on one of the mornings.

Happy weekend to you!

Seriously!

Via Apartment Therapy
I adore that this pallet was re-used to make a small garden. And those succulents!?! Just don't get me started on those.

Via A Cup of Jo
I love paletas (Mexican ice creams)! I will run out of the house as soon as I hear the paleta man ringing the bell outside. Most of the time I get it confused with the chicharon (fried pig skins) guy or the raspado (shaved ice) man. But when the paleta man is out there, I am ready with my money to scoop up and paleta de fresas (strawberry ice cream). I really want to try this recipe and see if it's just as good.

Via Mod Cloth
This belt could be paired with so many different things. I love the color and the sweet bow can instantly add a bit of girly to something a bit plain.

This nail tutorial from Dainty Squid is super cute and looks so easy! This is the next thing I will be trying, for sure.

Speaking of nail polish, I have been adoring Mob Square and Pink Diamond by Essie.

I currently have an Otterbox for my iPhone but, holy beautiful! Not only dose Vers offer a more sustainable option in Bamboo, but the also plant 100 trees for every 1 tree used for their products. Amazing! Also, Fab.com has these on sale for the next couple days! Click here to get your invite and start shopping.

Everything about this picture! Looks exactly like my Baxter.

I adore this email on how transition summer dresses into fall! I adore the look on the right.

Hello and happy Friday! You may have noticed some changes here on my blog and that is my #1 favorite thing this week. It is still a work in progress but I'm very satisfied with how it has turned our thus far. Now onto the other things!

Via Zara

This Zara skirt it super cute! I love the pairing with the button down shirt but would be equally as cute with another shirt.

Via Zara
While browsing the Zara site, I also found this shirt. The whole outfit is perfection but I'd settle just for that sweet shirt. The berries and flowers print is amazing.

Katie at Skunkboy Creatures posted a beautiful cover of Moon River by the Honey Trees here.

This fox print by tevagallery is amazing. Instantly added to my want list.

This outfit post from Atlatic-Pacific is cute cute!

If you haven't yet check out the Photo An Hour post on Kyla's blog, you must do it now! I love getting a peak into my favorite bloggers daily doings and Kyla's life looks so cute and fun.

Things I'm Loving: Hair How-To's

Friday, May 20, 2011

Spring has not officially ended, I'm already dreading the heat we face here in Central California. If you're not familiar, spring and fall are very short and summer is really long. Unfortunately being fashionable and stylish from head to toe gives way to a pony tail and whatever clothing is light weight. For me, my biggest problem throughout the heat waves (and possibly all year long...) is mixing up my hair styles. I have these modes: Down and straight or a bit of curl, sort of half up with simple small clips, and pony tail which is business mode for the gym. This must change and thanks to the how-to's I've fallen for, it can!

Via Southern Swoop
Fishtail braids are hot hot hot right now and it's not hard to tell why. They are simple to execute and ad so much style. Check out the how-to, here.

I love the tutorial video from Danielle at Sometimes Sweet on Milk Maid braids. They are sweet and again, easy! You should check out her video!

Via ThePaperMama
Buns are great to get your hair up and can be super chic. I adore this version of the messy bun, times three!

Via A Cup of Jo

This how-to is super easy and a great way to dressy up your ponytail.

Also, I have a few more over on pinterest which you can check out here.

Happy weekend!

Star Wars day is just awesome for my nerdy little heart. Since I like Star Wars I thought I would do my TIL post early this week and feature some great Star Wars items. Enjoy!

Via capitainmagnificent

These Day of The Dead themed Imperial prints are amazing. Sold individually or in a group of three, these would make a great addition to a lover of both Star Wars and Day of the Dead. Also, you can find the Rebel prints here.

Via handz

If retro is more your style, then you should check out this New Hope poster! The colors are awesome and the details are divine. You can also find The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi from the same seller!

Via handz

And lastly in the art department, if subtle geekery is more your style then this eye chart ode to Star Wars is right up your alley.

Via crimsonking

For those looking to add a subtle nod to Star Wars on their big day or formal attire, these cuff links are perfect. You can also find a pair in R2-D2 through Cufflinks.

Via Williams Sonoma
For the treats lovers and baking inclined, create your own Star Wars shaped cookies. These are perfect for themed parties or just enjoying while watching the films.

Via micielomicielo

For the Star Wars fan hoping to pass their love of the films to their children, get your kids started early with a Yoda onesie. My favorite part is the included rattle. They also have Chewbacca and Princess Leia.

And finally, a video my Mister found. This is just too cute!

Rules of a Lady

I really love this blog series as well as the one for gentlemen. I think being able to accept a compliment is one of the hardest things for me to do that I'd like to be much better at.

Contrasting Halves Dress via Anthropolgie

This dress is just stunning.

Lucca Couture Scallop Short via UO

If you don't mind shorter shorts, I reccomend you buy these! These are just too darling not to be worn.

Happy Friday friends. I'd love to hear the things you're loving this week!

Things I'm Loving

Friday, April 8, 2011

Rachel at elefantine has been craving mall soft pretzels and so have I! This recipe that she shares would be a lot easier to make than the effort of visiting one my local malls, too crowded most of the time.

If you see my Twitter updates or Instagram photos, you'll know that I have a bit of an obsession with my fluff ball Sophie. I mean, she's the cats meow, how can you not love her? These measuring cups from Modcloth are perfect to express your affinity for our feline friends and practical for your kitchen.

The "We're All Mad Here" print from Emily Dunmas is too sweet for words.

Since we're on the subject of Disney, I saw this and had to laugh. My favorite part is the instructions towards the bottom.

I've been wanting a personalized return address stamp for ages. This one (top) from Primele on Etsy is lovely. If swirls and super fancy calligraphy aren't your thing, this one (bottom) from NoteTrunk may be for you. I think both are amazing and can't wait to settle in to my forever home and get one!
