Am I missing something?

So I'm making great progress on my Olive Afghan. The only problem is, I've never worked with more than one ball of yarn at once and something strange has happened.



Do you see it. The small bunch on the right? Has ths happened to anyone?



Is it something I've done? Are the balls uneven? I've tried to pull yarn out evenly, but unfortunately, it's not happening that way. I suppose I'll just run with it and tie on the new yarn sooner that I thought. Let's just hope I don't have to buy even more yarn. I suppose it would be justifyable....it's for a current project that I don't see putting on hold at any point.
